A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Mass

SPOILERS AHEAD

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Mass is the best-selling third instalment in the ACOTAR series. We see Feyre returning to the Spring Court with the determination to gather information on Tamlin's actions and learn what she can do about the impending doom of the King of Hybern threatening to invade and bring her lands, both mortal and Fae, to their knees. This book was amazing and had me on the edge of my seat with every page... LITERALLY!

Feyre and Rhysand have FINALLY given themselves wholly to each other, and this book showcases them getting better and better. I was a little bit turned off by the constant use of calling each other "my mate" but other than that the writing was amazing! This story is the textbook definition of found family, and I loved the group and how they were ALWAYS there for each other. They truly showcase that if you love something or someone, you must protect it at all costs.

We meet so many good and bad new characters, including Mor, Azriel, Cassian, The King of Hybern, and Armen, and we get to see some old characters in new depths, like Nesta, Elain, and even Lucien and Tamlin... I know those two I was quite shocked about. I loved watching all of their stories and lives unfold, as they supported each other and learnt how they must help in the impending war.

When Feyre goes back to the Spring Court at the beginning of the book I almost DNF'd the book. I was not ready to sit by and read about Tamlin and his stupid rules again. But when we learnt that it was all a cover and that she could STILL communicate with Rhysand, I was HOOKED. That was the best plot to have happened at that point in the story. While she is there, we get to see more depth with Tamlin and learn that maybe... MAYBE he isn't as bad as he is trying to act.

" I would have waited five hundred more years for you. A thousand years. And if this was all the time we were allowed to have... The wait was worth it".

Coming from reading ACOMAF I didn't know if this series could get any better, and it did! This book was cheesy, romantic, and spicy, while also showcasing the struggles of war and the impacts it can have on everyone involved, on both sides of the war.

"Kindness can thrive even amongst cruelty".

I was NOT prepared for what happens on page 666! To say I was screaming, crying, throwing up is a HUGE understatement! I kind of expected it, but when the Kind of Hybern was killed, I thought "Surely he won't die then...", but then once I read the words '"I was shaking him, screaming his name and shaking him, and my body stopped being my body and just became this thing that held me and this lack of him, and I could not stop screaming and screaming—" I was a MESS!

"What we think to be our greatest weakness can sometimes be our biggest strength".

Feyre and Rhysand in this book were the epitome of fated mates, they knew what each other needed and when they needed it. They were supportive, kind, reassuring and allowed each other to be whoever they wanted to be. The found family of Mor, Az, Cass, and Armen was what Feyre truly needed to heal from everything she endured within the Mortal Lands, The Spring Court, and Under the Mountain.

Overall this book was an easy 5/5 for me. It was shocking, yet comforting to be with these characters again and I am so excited to start ACOFAS!
